Ottilia Rau1

Ottilia Rau was born on 20 May 1915 at Napoleaon, Logan County, North Dakota.1 She was the daughter of Jacob Rau and Kathrine Hemmerich.1 Ottilia Rau married, at age 18, Milton Wentz, age 19, son of Peter Wentz Jr. and Louisa Essig, on Sunday, 18 March 1934 at Napoleaon, Logan County, North Dakota.1 Ottilia Rau died on 2 April 2005 at Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, at age 89 years, 10 months and 13 days.1 She was buried on 9 April 2005 in the Saint Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, located in Streeter, Stutsman County, North Dakota.1
Ottilia Rau also went by the name of Tillie.1 As of 1920, Ottilia Rau was also known as Tilly. Her obituary was published on 6 April 2005 in the local paper, printed in Gackle, Logan County, North Dakota. Her obituary stated:
Ottilia "Tillie" Wentz, 89, Tigard, Ore., died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at her home.
Tillie Rau was born May 20, 1915, in Logan County, near Napoleon, N.D., the daughter of Jacob and Kathrine (Himmerich) Rau. She grew up and attended the local rural school. She then helped on the family farm. She married Milton Wentz on March 18, 1934, at rural Napoleon. They lived on a farm southwest of Streeter, N.D., where they farmed until 1958. In 1958, they moved to Gackle, N.D. In June 2001, they moved to Edgewood Vista, Bismarck, N.D. In November 2002, they moved to Beaverton, Ore. He died July 30, 2003. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Streeter, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle. She was active in Ladies Aid and Germans from Russia.
She is survived by three daughters, Marlene Wagner, Bismarck, Marcella (Lyle) Reese, Tigard, Ore., Lucille (Alvin) Kuhn, McMinnville, Ore; a brother, Edwin (Rose), Jamestown; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, five sisters and a son-in-law, Milton.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, with the Rev. Russ Pollock officiating.
Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Haut Funeral Homes, Gackle.
Burial: St Lukes's Lutheran Cemetery, Streeter.1
