Mary Elizabeth Calkins1,2,3

     Mary Elizabeth Calkins was born on 29 January 1926 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 She was the daughter of Donald M. Calkins and Josephine Carrie Oehrli.3,1 Mary Elizabeth Calkins married Harry W. Klees, son of Timothy T. Klees and Margaret M. Trostle, in 1947.1,2,3 Mary Elizabeth Calkins died on 23 December 2019 at Williamsport Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 93 years, 10 months and 24 days.3
     Mary Elizabeth Calkins also went by the name of Lib.2 She appeared on the census of 5 April 1930 in the household of Donald M. Calkins and Josephine Carrie Oehrli at Williamsport, 5th Ward, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. As of 2006, Mary Elizabeth Calkins and Harry W. Klees lived in Lewisburg, East Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania.1

     Mary Elizabeth was listed in the obituary for Josephine Carrie Oehrli, on 26 February 2006 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as her daughter.1 Her obituary was published on 24 December 2019 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

          Mary E. Klees, 93, of The Williamsport Home Apartments and formerly of Lewisburg, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at The Williamsport Home surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Harry W. Klees, on Aug. 9, 2012.

     Born Jan. 29, 1926, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Donald M. and Josephine M. (Orehli) Calkins.

     Mary began her working career at AVCO, before raising her three children, and more recently was an assistant for the Milton Public Library for 20 years. She enjoyed flowers, playing cards and bingo, watching birds, camping with her husband, and was an avid reader.

     Surviving are two daughters, Sandra E. Klees-Hanzel, of Holland, and Jamie A. Klees-Hoffa (Robert), of Cogan Station; five grandchildren, Stanley Hanzel (Ingrida), Tisha Gara (Jody), Ashley Hanzel, Brett Klees (Stacy), and Taylor Hoffa; and five great-grandchildren, Jody Gara Jr. (Brittany), Madelyn, Makayla and Nolan Klees, and Aiden Christopher Hanzel.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Donald T. Klees.

     In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no services.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the Williamsport Home, c/o Apartment B Travel Committee, 1900 Ravine Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
