Donald T. Klees was born on 30 April 1948 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 He was the son of Harry W. Klees and Mary Elizabeth Calkins.2,3 Donald T. Klees died on 6 March 2015 at Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 66 years, 10 months and 6 days.3 A memorial service for Donald T. Klees was held Knight-Confer Funeral Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, on 18 April 2015.3
He graduated in 1966 from Lewisburg High School, located in Lewisburg, East Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania.3 As of 2006, Donald T. Klees lived in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
Donald T. Klees was listed in Josephine Carrie Oehrli's obituary on 26 February 2006 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as her grandson.1 His obituary was published sometime in 15 March 2015 on the website for Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Donnie or "The Professor" as referred to by family and friends drifted peacefully into eternal life in Cogan Station on March 6, 2015. He was hand in hand with his sisters as he passed.
Don was born April 30, 1948, in Williamsport to Mary Calkins Klees and the late Dr. Harry W. Klees. He graduated from Lewisburg Area High School in 1966. He continued his education at Mansfield University and received his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Wesleyan College and his master’s degree in Education from Lehigh University.
At the time of his death, Donnie was employed as a Human Services Representative for the Department of Human Services in Philadelphia. He formerly resided in Southampton, Pa. His life work centered on those that needed assistance. He was previously employed as Director of Children and Youth and the Area on Aging.
Donnie was a founding member of Mansfield University’s Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He enjoyed returning for the Annual Golf Outing. An avid football fan, he had a great passion for Penn State. He loved to golf, play pool, cards and canoeing trips. He was full of life with a love for family, friends and co-workers.
His care and compassion for others was his trademark. Even when he was ill, he was more concerned about how you were doing. Donnie may have entered an establishment as a stranger but by the time he left he was your friend. When he saw you, he would always extend his hand and offer a warm greeting.
Donnie is survived by his son Brett Klees, daughter-in-law Stacy Green Klees and grandchildren Makayla, Madelyn and Nolan of Ashburn, Va.
Donnie is also survived by his mother Mary Calkins Klees, of Williamsport; his sister, Sandra Hanzel, of Southampton, Pa; sister, Jamie Klees Hoffa and brother-in-law, Robert Hoffa, of Cogan Station; nephew, Stanley Hanzel, of Alexandria, Va; niece, Tisha Gara of Dayton, Ohio; niece, Ashley Hanzel, of Philadelphia; and a great-nephew Jody Gara Jr.
A celebration of life will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave.
