     John Scholder was born on 1 January 1863 at Newark, Licking County, Ohio.2,5 He was the son of John Scholder and Doratha Marie Braun.1,2,3,4 John Scholder married, at age 34, Emma Krick, daughter of Elijah Krick and Louisa Tague, on Tuesday, 20 July 1897 at Adams County, Indiana.1,2,5 John Scholder died on 5 May 1934 at Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana, at age 71 years, 4 months and 4 days.5 He was buried on 9 May 1934 in section 2, row 2, in the Rochester Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, located in Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend [—?—] Turpin.5
     John Scholder appeared on the census of 1 June 1880 in the household of Doratha Marie Braun at Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. John Scholder appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 at Rochester, 2nd Ward, Fulton County, Indiana. He appeared on the census of 15 January 1920 at Rochester, 1st Ward, Fulton County, Indiana. His obituary was published on 7 May 1934 in the Rochester Sentinel, printed in Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. His obituary stated:

     John Scholder, aged 71, died at the county home Saturday at 11:30 p.m. Death was due to general senility. The deceased who had been a clerk in stores in Rochester for many years had been at the home for the past eight years.

     The deceased was born in Newark, Ohio on January 1, 1863. He came to this county with his parents when he was quite young. He is the last one of a pioneer family of this city. His wife who preceded him in death was Emma Kreek [Krick].

     The funeral services will be held from the Val Zimmerman Funeral Apartment at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Turpin in charge. Burial will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery.5
