Doratha Marie Braun was born on 4 May 1827 at Württemberg.2,1 She married John Scholder circa 1857 at Newark, Licking County, Ohio.3,2,1 Doratha Marie Braun died on 16 May 1908 at Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana, at age 81 years and 12 days.1,4 She was buried on 18 May 1908 in section 2, row 2, in the Rochester Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, located in Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend O. P. Miles.1
Doratha Marie Braun was also known as Mary Dortha Brown.3,2 She emigrated in 1854 from Württemberg to Newark, Ohio.1 She and John Scholder moved to Rochester, Indiana in 1860.1 Doratha Marie Braun appeared on the census of 1 June 1880 at Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. She appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 at Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. Her obituary was published on 18 May 1908 in the Rochester Sentinel, printed in Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. Her obituary stated:
Doratha Marie Braun was born in Wittenberg, Germany, May 4, 1827, and died at her home in northwest Rochester Saturday afternoon, May 16, 1908.
In 1854 she came to America and settled in Newark, Ohio, where she was later married to John Scholder, deceased. In 1860 they came to Rochester where she has since resided.
There were born seven children to this union, Frona and John Scholder, of this city, and five deceased.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence, Rev. O. P. MILES having charge of the service. Interment was made in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
