     Vivian Lois Sholder was born on 9 July 1922 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3,4 She was the daughter of Nelson Richard Sholder and Meredith Kunes.3,1 Vivian Lois Sholder married, at age 20, William Francis Kern, age 22, son of Harry Henry Kern and Ann Jane Daly, on Friday, 24 July 1942 at Lycoming Presbyterian Church, Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend J. Clyde Foose.2,3 Vivian Lois Sholder died on 12 May 2012 at Orlando, Orange County, Florida, at age 89 years, 10 months and 3 days.3,4 She was buried on 15 October 2012 in court 7, section YY, column 7, niche 4, in the Arlington National Cemetery, located in Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.4
     Lois Mae Sholder was named for Vivian Lois Sholder and Doris Mae Ranck. She appears in four generation family snapshot circa 1947. She was a school teacher between 1950 and 1980 at J. George Becht Elementary School, Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 As of 1992, Vivian Lois Sholder and William Francis Kern lived at 120 Nettles Boulevard, Jensen Beach, Florida.1

     Meredith Kunes's obituary on 25 October 1992 in the Harrisburg Patriot, printed in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, listed Vivian Lois as her daughter.1 Her obituary was published on 18 May 2012 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Vivian S. Kern, 89, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Orlando, Fla.

     She was a former resident of Becht Road in Loyalsock Township and Nettles Island in Jensen Beach, Fla.

     She was born July 9, 1922, in Grimesville, Pa., the daughter of the late Nelson R. Sholder and the late Meredith (Kunes) Sholder Harbold.

     Vivian graduated from Williamsport High School, Dickinson Junior College and Lycoming College. She retired in 1980 from teaching at J. George Becht Elementary School in Loyalsock Township. Vivian was a founding member of Northway Presbyterian Church.

     She is survived by her husband of 69 years, William F. of Orlando; son, R. Scott (Debra) Kern of Williamsport; daughter, Jeanine Kern of Orlando; daughter-in- law, Marilyn Kern of Williamsport; granddaughter, Amalie (Chris Pidcock) of Holly, Mich; grandsons, Matthew (Brittany) of Lewistown, Pa. and Evan of Williamsport; great-grandson, Jordan; and sister, Dorothy (Frank N. Jr.) Hofer of Odessa, Fla. She was predeceased by son, W. Stephen Kern, in 1998. Much of her extended family still lives in the greater Williamsport area, including her cousin and best friend Doris Ranck.

     Burial will be at the convenience of the family.3
