Meredith Kunes was born on 8 May 1900.2 She was the daughter of Melvil Kunes and Mabel Gardner. Meredith Kunes first married, at age 21, Nelson Richard Sholder, age 23, son of Frederick Sholder and Matilda Helen Miller, on Wednesday, 15 June 1921 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.4,3 Meredith Kunes married a second time John G. Harbold circa 1955.1 Meredith Kunes died on 17 October 1992 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, at age 92 years, 5 months and 9 days.1,2 She was buried on 22 October 1992 in the Montoursville Cemetery, located in Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
As of 1948, Meredith Kunes and Nelson Richard Sholder lived at 858 Second Street, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Her obituary was published on 25 October 1992 in the Harrisburg Patriot, printed in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Meredith Sholder Harbold, 92 of the Odd Fellows Home, Lower Swatara Twp., and formerly of Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, and the Lock Haven area, died October 17 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
She was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of West Shore Baptist Church, Camp Hill.
She was the widow of John G. Harbold. Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Hofer of Vienna, VA, and Vivian Kern of Jensen Beach, FL; a stepson Harold of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Montoursville Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation. Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Odd Fellows Home, 999 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown 17057.1
