Otto's pride and joy was his homing pigeons which were used for racing. He owned two weekenders at Mooney Point on the Hawkesbury river were he used to take his family for relaxation and to release his pigeons. They would fly back to the bird loft he had built at their home in Woollahra. The cottage at the bottom near the river was called "Linger Longer" and the top cottage was called "Iluka." There was a boat house at the bottom of the cliff to house their launch.1
