Shirley Ruth Calkins married, at age 19, Earl G. Kriner, age 21, son of Earl Kriner and Carrie Engel, on Wednesday, 4 September 1946 at Winchester, Winchester County, Virginia.4 Shirley Ruth Calkins died on 5 July 2005 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 78 years, 8 months and 6 days.5,1,2 She was buried on 9 July 2005 in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Philip Lesko.1

As of September 1992, Shirley Ruth Calkins and Earl G. Kriner lived at 2022 Zuni Lane, Box 167, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.3 She was widowed at age 66 by the death of Earl on 8 June 1993.6 As of November 2000, Shirley Ruth Calkins lived at 2001 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Her obituary was published on 7 July 2005 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Shirley R. Kriner, 78, of 2001 Memorial Ave., died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Williamsport Oct. 29, 1926, she was the daughter of Floyd and Carrie Uppdegraff Calkins. Shirley was a member of the Trinity Gospel Church. She retired from Litton Industries in 1985. Her husband of 46 years, Earl G. Kriner, pedeceased her on June 8, 1993.
Surviving are her children, Michael E. Kriner of Montoursville, Christine M. Weaver and Paul D. Kriner, both of city; grandchildren, Steven, Jeffrey, Bryon, Sarah, Renee, David and Chad; great-grandchildren, Andrea, Alyssa, Lauren, Jeffrey, Dalton and Jenna; brother, Robert Calkins of Muncy.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Trinity Gospel Church, 1010 Elmira St., with her pastor, the Rev. Philip Lesko, officiating.
The visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. The family will provide the flowers. Those who wish to remember Shirley may make contributions to her church in her memory. Arrangements are by Sanders Mortuary.5 According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Shirley's last known residence was Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
