     Erna Regina Friedrich was born on 3 February 1917 at Kaylor, Hutchinson County, South Dakota.1 She was the daughter of Otto Friedrich and Emma Weisz.1 Erna Regina Friedrich married, at age 18, William Robert Wegehaupt, age 23, son of Emil Wegehaupt and Martha Geigle, on Monday, 6 January 1936 at Delmont, Douglas County, South Dakota.1,2 Erna Regina Friedrich died on 31 December 2011 at Aberdeen, Brown County, South Dakota, at age 94 years, 10 months and 28 days.1 She was buried on 3 January 2012 in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, located in Delmont, Douglas County, South Dakota. The funeral service was officiated by Pastor Brian Bucklew.1
     She was widowed at age 84 by the death of William on 13 April 2001.1 Her obituary was published sometime in 1 January 2012 in the local paper, printed in Aberdeen, Brown County, South Dakota. Her obituary stated:

     The funeral service for Erna Regina Wegehaupt, 94, Aberdeen, will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, Delmont, SD, with Pastor Brian Bucklew officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Delmont, SD.

     Erna died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

     Erna Regina Friederich was born on February 3, 1917 to Otto and Emma (Weisz) Friederich in Kaylor, SD. This is the area where she attended school.

     On January 6, 1936 she married William "Bill" Wegehaupt at Delmont, SD. They farmed in Hillside, SD and eventually in the Delmont area, retiring in 1977. They moved into Delmont in 1981 and in 1997 they moved to Aberdeen to be closer to family.

     William died on April 13, 2001 at Aberdeen, SD. Erna continued to make Aberdeen her home.

     Erna loved baking, cooking and collecting recipes. Erna and Bill loved traveling and they went on twenty-three bus tours throughout the United States and Canada.

     She really loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved attending all their activities and sporting events.

     Grateful for having shared Erna's life are her children; Jerald (JoAnn) Wegehaupt, Madison, SD, Glenn (Peggy) Wegehaupt, Aberdeen, SD, Wynell Wegehaupt, Watertown, SD, and Kevin (Tammie) Wegehaupt, Sisseton, SD, grandchildren; Tracy (Glen) Greenwood, Steven (Dee) Wegehaupt, Robert (Melissa) Wegehaupt, Laura Wegehaupt, John Wegehaupt, Michael Wegehaupt, Dustin (Candice) Wegehaupt, Eric (Sheilah) Wegehaupt, William J. Wegehaupt, great grandchildren; Sidney Smith, Wyatt Smith, Braedon Wegehaupt, Kailee Wegehaupt, Rayne Wegehaupt, Gabriella Wegehaupt, William A. Wegehaupt and Mackenzie Wegehaupt and one sister, Hulda Stoltz.

     Preceding her in death are her husband, William R. Wegehaupt, and her parents, Otto and Emma Friederich, sisters, Frieda Goldhammer, Bertha Beck, Lorayne Meyers and baby girl Fauth. www.spitzerfuneralhome.com.1
