Jewell Lorene Stanbery was born on 17 March 1918 at Newton County, Missouri.1,3 She married, at age 24, Ivan T. Schmidt, age 24, son of Thornton Oldfield and Rosa Emma Wein, on Thursday, 2 July 1942 at Missouri.1,2 Jewell Lorene Stanbery died on 20 August 2004 at age 86 years, 5 months and 3 days.1,3 She was buried on 23 August 2004 in the Restland Memorial Park, located in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Terry Blankenship.1
Jewell Lorene Stanbery was also known as Judy.2 As of October 1968, Jewell Lorene Stanbery and Ivan T. Schmidt lived in Garland, Dallas County, Texas.2 Her obituary was published on 22 August 2004 in the The Dallas Morning News, printed in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Her obituary stated:
SCHMIDT, JEWELL LORENE, born March 17, 1918 in Newton, Missouri passed away August 20, 2004. Jewell was very proud of the fact that she was blessed to be born on St. Patrick's Day. Among her many joys were cooking Thanksgiving Dinners for family and baking goodies for her neighbors. Having company and family in her home gave her great pleasure. Knitting, growing flowers, watching birds in her numerous birdhouses and playing Canasta also made Jewell very happy. She was a fan of the Texas Rangers and notably a huge fan of Pudge Rodriguez.
Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her husband Ivan T. Schmidt who passed away in 2000, and her sister, Jerry Schaffer.
Jewell is survived by her son, Robert Schmidt and wife JoAnn; son Richard Schmidt and wife Brenda; granddaughter Annette Edmonson; grandson Tony Schmidt and wife Angie; granddaughter Heather Wellman and husband Kyle; great-grandsons Joshua and Ivan; step-granddaughters Shelly and Sheila; sisters Grace Bradley and Twila Richards.
Services will be held Monday, August 23, 2004 at 1:00 pm in the Restland Abbey Chapel, with Rev. Terry Blankenship officiating. Interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park.
