Quentin LaVerne Peterson was born on 22 March 1915 at Webster, Day County, South Dakota.1,2 He was the son of Gustav Peterson and Clara Johnson.1 Quentin LaVerne Peterson was baptized at Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Augustana Church, Webster, Day County, South Dakota.1 He married, at age 25, Hazel Emma Oldfield, daughter of Thornton Oldfield and Rosa Emma Wein, on Sunday, 24 March 1940 at Butler, Day County, South Dakota.1 Quentin LaVerne Peterson died on 25 April 1990 at age 75 years, 1 month and 3 days.1,2
He graduated on 26 May 1933 from Webster High School, located in Webster, Day County, South Dakota.1 His obituary was published on 28 April 1990 in the local paper, printed in Watertown, Codington County, South Dakota. His obituary stated:
Quentin L. Peterson was born March 22, 1915 at Webster, SD, the son of Gustav and Clara [nee Johnson] Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Augustana Church at Webster. He graduated from Webster High School on May 26, 1933.
On March 24, 1940 he married Hazel Emma Schmidt at Butler, SD. He was a Star Mail Route carrier from Webster to Watertown until October of 1953, when he and his family moved to Watertown. He became a partner in the A & J Sinclair Station until 1962 when he opened Peterson's Service on East Kemp Avenue in uptown Watertown.
Quentin provided auto service work until his retirement in the Spring of 1979. The couple had observed their 50th wedding anniversary in March and were planning a celebration this June.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Christian Men's Study Group of Grace Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club and its Board of Directors. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ellsworth Peterson and one son-in-law, Gordon Roe.1 According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Quentin's last known residence was Watertown, Codington County, South Dakota.2
