Ruth Ellen Roller was born on 30 October 1920 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 She was the daughter of Thomas Harris Roller and Pearl M. Pasnault.1,3,4 Ruth Ellen Roller first married, at age 24, George W. Bock on Friday, 26 October 1945.1,3,4 Ruth Ellen Roller married a second time Cronise H. Barr in 1992.1,4 Ruth Ellen Roller died on 16 May 2003 at age 82 years, 6 months and 16 days.1,2,3,4 A memorial service for Ruth Ellen Roller was held Penbrook Church of God, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on 21 May 2003 with Reverend Philip Scott officiating.1 Ruth Ellen Roller was buried in the Green Lawn Memorial Park, located in Montgomery, Clinton Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
She appeared on the census of 7 April 1930 in the household of Thomas Harris Roller and Pearl M. Pasnault at High Street, Williamsport, North Ward, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary was published on 18 May 2003 in the The Patriot-News, printed in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Ruth Ellen (Bock) Barr, 82, of Susquehanna Township, passed on to her eternal reward on Friday, May 16th.
Born October 30, 1920 in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of T. Harris and Pearl M. Roller.
She served in the Women's Army Corp (WAC) in World War II, from August 18, 1943 to Decemeber 10, 1945. She received her training at Oglethorpe, GA Army Base and served the remainder of time at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. Following her honorable discharge, she married George W. Bock. Ruth worked in Sears Toy Department for a number of years and then worked at Hickory Farms until her retirement.
In 1992, she married her present husband, Pastor Cronise H. Barr. She was a long time member of the Colonial Park U. M. Church, serving in the Children's Department. She had recently joined the Penbrook Church of God with her husband.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Frank Eppler of Piedmont, SC and one son and daughter-in- law, Carl and Eileen Bock of Harrisburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There are two step sons, Philip Barr and Stephen Barr; a step daughter, Carole Faulder and four step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Roller of New Cumberland and a sister, Beverly Miller of Williamsport.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., in the Penbrook Church of C[G]od, with the Rev. Philip Scott officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Burial in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, PA.
