     Verus L. Farr Jr. was born on 5 April 1924 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,3 He was the son of Verus L. Farr and Mildred Mae Sholder.1,3 Verus L. Farr Jr. married, at age 47, Frances Helen Strauss, age 36, daughter of George Strauss and Laura A. Schuler, on Thursday, 30 December 1971.1,3,2 Verus L. Farr Jr. died on 29 April 2004 at home, 2295 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 80 years and 24 days.3 He was buried circa May 2004 in the Richart's Grove Cemetery, located in Jordan Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3
     Verus L. Farr Jr. was listed in the obituary for the former Frances Helen Strauss, on 30 January 2000 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as her husband.2 Verus L. Farr Jr., deceased, formerly lived at 2295 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, as of March 2004.3 His obituary was published on 30 April 2004 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     Verus L. "Tommy" "Shorty" Farr Jr., 80, of 2295 Lycoming Creek Road, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness. His wife of 29 years, the former Frances H. Strauss, died on Jan. 28, 2000.

     Tommy was an Army veteran of World War II serving from 1942 to 1945. He and his father owned and operated Farr’s Fruit Stand and Motel on Lycoming Creek Road and he also sold antiques.

     He was a graduate of Richart’s Grove School, Unityville, a life member of the V.F.W. Post 844 in Williamsport, was an avid reader and gardener.

     Tommy had a fond love for the perpetual care of Richart’s Grove Church, school and cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

     Born April 5, 1924, in Williamsport, Tommy was a son of Verus L. and Mildred Sholder Farr, Sr. He and his brother were raised by his grandparents, Howard and Annie Farr in Unityville.

     Surviving are a brother, Elwood H. "Skip" of Williamsport; companion, Ellouise Harvey and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews great-great-nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his dog, Auzzie, his best friend.

     He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Farr.

     In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, there will be no visitation or services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a future date in Richart’s Grove Cemetery, Unityville. Arrangements by Knight-Confer Funeral Home.

     In memory of Tommy, the family suggests contributions be made in his name to the SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701 or to the Richart’s Grove Church, c/o Millie Gordner, 6446 Route 42 Highway, Unityville, PA 17774.3
