Robert W. Harer1,2

     Robert W. Harer was born on 8 February 1919 at South Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of Harry William Harer and Grace A. Murray.2 Robert W. Harer married Margaret A. Pepperman in 1950.2 Robert W. Harer died on 1 November 2017 at Williamsport Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 98 years, 8 months and 24 days.2 He was buried on 3 November 2017 in the Montoursville Cemetery, located in Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend A. Elizabeth Aurand.2
     Robert W. Harer appeared on the census of 10 January 1920 in the household of Harry William Harer and Grace A. Murray at South Williamsport, 1st Ward, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Robert W. Harer appeared on the census of 15 April 1930 in the household of Alston W. Biller and Alice Harer at Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Robert W. Harer began military service on 18 September 1941 at New Cumberland, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, when he enlisted for service with the United States Army in the Philippine Department as a Private. He was single at his time of enlistment showing he was semi-skilled in machine shop and related occupations. As of 2002, Robert W. Harer lived at 1127 Pine Summit Road, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.3

     Robert W. Harer the brother of Llewellyn E. Harer was listed in his obituary on 22 March 2002 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 His obituary was published on 2 November 2017 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     Robert W. Harer, 98, of Williamsport, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at the Williamsport Home.

     Born Feb. 28, 1919, in South Williamsport, he was a son of the late Harry and Grace Sholder Harer.

     Robert served during World War II in the Army Air Corps.

     Robert retired as a route salesman for Hurr’s Dairy and Valley Farms. After retirement he worked as a courier for Williamsport National Bank.

     Robert was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. He was also a member of Duboistown VFW No. 7863, the Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge 106 F&AM, and the Zafar Grotto where he served as past Monarch.

     He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret A. (Pepperman) Harer; two children, Larry (Barbara) Harer and Deborah (Timothy) Day, both of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Robert (Heather) and Michael (Jendy) Harer and Joshua (Ashley) and Brian (Mindy) Day; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys (Carl) McDaniel, of Williamsport.

     A funeral service to honor the life of Robert will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1400 Market St., Williamsport, with his pastor, the Rev. A. Elizabeth Aurand, officiating. Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

     Arrangements are entrusted to Sanders Mortuary.2
