Gladys Walz1

     Gladys Walz was born on 6 April 1925 at Zap, Mercer County, North Dakota.1 She was the daughter of Wilhelm Walz and Anna [—?—].1 Gladys Walz married, at age 20, Clarence A. Breitling, age 29, son of Phillip Frederick Breitling and Christina Ruffine Klaus, on Thursday, 6 September 1945 at Sidney, Richland County, Montana.1 Gladys Walz died on 15 April 2003 at Eagle Cliff Manor, Billings, Stillwater County, Montana, at age 78 years and 9 days.1 She was buried on 18 April 2003 in the Park City Cemetery, located in Park City, Stillwater County, Montana.1
     She appeared on the census of 11 April 1930 in the household of Wilhelm Walz and Anna [—?—] at Township 145, Range 89, Mercer County, North Dakota. She was widowed at age 69 by the death of Clarence on 28 June 1994.2 Her obituary was published on 16 April 2003 in the Billings Gazette, printed in Billings, Stillwater County, Montana. Her obituary stated:

     Gladys Breitling, 78, formerly of Park City, passed away late Wednesday evening, April 15, 2003, at Eagle Cliff Manor.

     She was born in Zap, N.D., on April 6, 1925, to Wilhelm and Anna Walz.

     She married Clarence Breitling in Sidney on Sept. 6, 1945. They resided in Sidney until retiring and moving to Park City in 1982. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Park City and later Trinity Lutheran in Billings.

     She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, making quilts for all her children and grandchildren and playing cards.

     Gladys moved to Billings in 1995 due to health concerns. She resided with her daughter Sandy until May 2000, when she entered Eagle Cliff Manor.

     Survivors include two sons, Glenn (Dixie) of Salt Lake City and Bruce (Charlotte) of Bozeman; one daughter, Sandra (Ken) Collier of Billings; five grandchildren, Troy (Jana) Nygaard, Tanya (Clint) Hensel, Jason Breitling, Nicole (Jamie) Schriver and Travis Breitling; six great-grandchildren, Brittin, Jared, Kassidy, Kori, Derek and Kaitlyn; two sisters, Ruth (August) Helm and Caroline (Calvin) Buechler of North Dakota and numerous nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two great-granddaughters, Megan and Madison Nygaard.

     Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Park City. Interment will be in the Park City Cemetery. Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel is in charge.1
