Martha Phillips was born on 10 December 1837 at Ohio.5 She was the daughter of Cotman Phillips and Ophelia Shepherd.5 Martha Phillips married, at age 16, George Scholderer, age 24, son of Jacob Friedrich Scholderer and Margaret Miller, on Tuesday, 5 September 1854 at Ross County, Ohio.5,6 Martha Phillips died on 17 February 1899 at age 61 years, 2 months and 7 days.5
She was enumerated on 19 June 1860 as a resident in the household of George Scholderer in the Eighth Census for the United States of America, in the State of Ohio, Ross County, Chillicothe, 4th Ward as "Martha Scholderer" age 21 being born in Ohio.7 Martha Phillips appeared on the census of 9 June 1880 in the household of Cotman Phillips and Ophelia Shepherd at Chillicothe, 4th Ward, Ross County, Ohio.
