Barbara Haigis1

     Barbara Haigis was born on 23 April 1827 at Württemberg.1 She was the daughter of John Haigis and Rebecca Jenter.1 Barbara Haigis married Martin Sauter, son of Johan Martin Sauter and Regina Dorothea Scholderer, in 1850 at Weilheim, Oberamt Balingen, Schwarzwaldkreis, Württemberg.1 Barbara Haigis died on 8 December 1907 at Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts, at age 80 years, 7 months and 15 days.1 She was buried in the Green River Cemetery, located in Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts.1
     She was widowed at age 45 by the death of Martin on 17 February 1873.1 The following article about Barbara was published on 9 June 1873 in the The Greenfield Gazette and Courier, printed in Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. This article stated:

     Mrs. Barbara Sauter has been paid $1000 on a life policy of her husband, which cost her husband in premiums $310.1 The following article about Barbara was published on 24 November 1873 Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. This article stated:

     Justice Trials - Barbera Sauter and Jacob Sauter, from whom beer was seized by State Constable Snell, were fined by Justice Davis, each $10 and costs for illegal keeping.1 The following article about Barbara was published on 5 January 1874 Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts.      Barbara Sauter was visited by State Constable Snell last week and relieved of a quantity of rum and ale. She plead guilty before Justice Davis Sat., and was fined $10 and costs - $17.25.1
