Esther E. Derr was born on 21 March 1932 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 She was the daughter of Henry L. Derr and Lavina Ellen Shuman.1,2 Esther E. Derr married, at age 17, Ronald Floyd Calkins, son of Floyd Douglas Calkins and Carrie Elizabeth Updegraff, on Saturday, 16 July 1949 at Winchester, Winchester County, Virginia.1,3 Esther E. Derr died on 6 June 2009 at Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 77 years, 2 months and 16 days.2 She was buried in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2

Esther E. Calkins, 77, of 267 Sawmill Road, Cogan Station, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at her home.
Esther was a very good cook, loved flowers, plants and jewelry. She was known for her charm, being the life of the party and her dancing.

Surviving are her sons, Ronald W., Jeffrey A. and Kevin S., all of Muncy; daughters, Judith K. (Anthony) Caputo, Rhonda L. (Melvin) Bitler and Brenda M. (John) Winder, all of Williamsport, Susan E. (Dennis) Logan of Montoursville and Debra J. Steinbacher of Nisbet; sisters, Evelyn June (Ben) Patz of Montoursville and Lavina M. Haller of Duboistown; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Esther was predeceased by her brothers, Elwood and Harold Derr, a niece, Tina Marie Haller and a son-in-law, Gregory Steinbacher.
Graveside services at Wildwood Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family, with Deacon Dennis Logan officiating. No visitation.
