Jacob Zimmerman was born on 12 December 1857 at Schwarzwaldkreis, Württemberg.2 He married, at age 24, Veronika Barbara Linck, age 25, daughter of Erhard Linck and Ursula Hengstler, on Saturday, 29 April 1882 at New York City, New York County, New York.1 Jacob Zimmerman died on 8 March 1933 at Butler, Day County, South Dakota, at age 75 years, 2 months and 24 days.1
He served in German Army for two years about 1875 and contracted a lung ailment thereby being discharged. He lived with his sister after his discharge from the Army.1 He was a carpenter.1
