Joseph A. Bennett was born on 4 June 1906 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3,1,4 He was the son of George Washington Bennett and Loretta Carrie Casselberry.3,2 Joseph A. Bennett married Margaret Leah Horn, daughter of Clarence Theron Horn and Ida Rae Sholder, in 1926. Joseph A. Bennett died on 23 July 1976 at South Side Hospital, Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, at age 70 years, 1 month and 19 days.3,1,4 He was buried on 26 July 1976 in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, located in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio.3
He appeared on the census of 21 April 1910 in the household of George Washington Bennett and Loretta Carrie Casselberry at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary was published on 24 July 1976 in the The Youngstown Vindicator, printed in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. His obituary stated:

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Foster Memorial United Presbyterian Church for Joseph A. Bennett, 70, of 4234 Euclid Blvd., retired businessman and a pioneer in Little League baseball who died of a heart ailment at 4:15 a.m. Friday in South Side Hospital.
Mr. Bennett was born June 4, 1906, in Williamsport, Pa., a son of George W. and Loretta Caselberry Bennett and came to Youngstown in 1932 from Marrisburg [Harrisburg], Pa.
He served as a vice president of the Wellman Realty Co. five years, and prior to that was employed by the Ohio Edison Co., worked for Packard Electric Div. during World War II, sold appliances for Strouss for 12 years, and operated his own appliance store on Market Street.
He was a member and trustee of the church, a charter member, and first president of the Uptown Kiwanis Club, a member of the Organization of Protestant Men and Curbstone Coaches. He was active in bringing Little League baseball to Youngstown and was an avid YSU athletic fan.
He leaves his wife, the former Margaret Turner, whom he married in 1926; two sons, J. Richard of Poland, executive director of the Youngstown Metropolitan YMCA, and Don of Boardman; a daughter, Miss Betty of Boardman; a brother, Verus of New York State; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Waltz of Williamsport, Pa. and Mrs. Kathryn Diedrick of Baltimore, Md; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Davis-Velker Funeral Home. The body will lie in state in the church one hour prior to services.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the endowment fund of the Youngstown YMCA. The Social Security Death Index gives the last residence of record for Joseph as Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio.1
