Eugene Fredrich was born on 11 September 1921 at Kaylor, Hutchinson County, South Dakota.1 He was the son of Gottlieb Fredrich and Maria Grosz.1 Eugene Fredrich died on 15 June 2006 at Parkston, Hutchinson County, South Dakota, at age 84 years, 9 months and 4 days.1 He was buried in the Grace Hill Cemetery, located in Tripp, Hutchinson County, South Dakota.1
His obituary was published sometime in June 2006 in the local paper, printed in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. His obituary stated:
Eugene Friederich, the son of Gottlieb and Maria (Grosz) Friederich, was born on September 11, 1921 on the family farm northwest of Kaylor, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Dennewitz Lutheran Church of rural Tripp.
He attended school near his childhood home, and as a young man was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served his country in the South Pacific during World War II. For his service, Eugene was awarded the Bronze Star for outstanding bravery.
He returned home and resumed farming the family homestead until he retired and moved into his home in Tripp.
Eugene was a member of the First American Lutheran Church in Tripp, and the Paul Grossheusch Post #2966 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Scotland, South Dakota.
Eugene died on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston, SD at the age of 84 years.
Left to cherish his memory are one brother: Leonard (Peggy) Friederich of Tripp, SD; three sisters: Annetta (Wilmer) Wuertzer, Pauline Uttecht, and Leona (Erwin) Kost, all of Parkston, SD; one sister-in-law: Elvera Friederich of Tripp, SD; ten nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Malvin, Arthur, Erwin, and Raymond; three sisters: Lorina, Olive, and Ida; and one nephew: Melvin.
Internment at Gracehill Cemetery, Tripp, SD.
Graveside military rites by Paul Grossheusch V.F.W. Post #2966 and American Legion Post #155 of Scotland.
