     Shirley Ann Mapes was born on 26 May 1936 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2,3 She was the daughter of Sidney A. Mapes and Zada B. Allen.2 Shirley Ann Mapes married, at age 17, Kenneth Larue Ludwig, age 20, son of LaVerne Arden Ludwig and Edna Beatrice Sholder, on Saturday, 24 April 1954.4 Shirley Ann Mapes died on 8 November 2001 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 65 years, 5 months and 13 days.2,3
     She graduated in 1954 from Williamsport Area High School, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2 As of between 1956 and 1978, Shirley Ann Mapes and Kenneth Larue Ludwig lived in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.5,6 As of 1994, Shirley Ann Mapes and Kenneth Larue Ludwig lived at 2021 1/2 Misner Road, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.7,4,2

     The former Shirley Ann Mapes was listed in Kenneth Larue Ludwig's obituary on 28 April 1999 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as his wife.4 Her obituary was published on 10 November 2001 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Shirley Mapes Ludwig, 65, of 2021 1/2 Misner Road, died Thursday, November 8, 2001 at her home. Her husband, Kenneth L. died April 27, 1999.

     Born May 26, 1936 in Williamsport, a daughter of Sidney A. and Zada B. Allen Mapes. She was a 1954 graduate of the Williamsport High School and enjoyed reading and bingo.

     Surviving are sons, David E. of Sayre and Donald E. of Williamsport; a daughter, Denise E. Sewell of Montgomery, AL; a brother, Sidney A. Mapes of Williamsport; sisters, Marcella M. Hiller of Trucksville and Nina M. Fisher of Wellsboro; 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Joseph D. Mapes.

     In keeping with wishes of the deceased there will be no visitation or funeral. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 East Third St. Williamsport PA, 17701 or Old Lycoming Twp. Volunteer Fire Co., 1600 Dewey Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements by Knight-Confer Funeral Home.2
According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Shirley's last known residence was Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3
