James David Shirey1

     James David Shirey was born on 6 July 1941 at Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He married, at age 20, Mary Jane Fleeger, daughter of Walter C. Fleeger and Helen Grace Pasnault, on Saturday, 25 November 1961 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 James David Shirey died on 7 December 2011 at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, at age 70 years, 5 months and 1 day.2
     His obituary was published on 11 December 2011 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     James D. Shirey, 70, of Hummelstown, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, in the Hershey Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 6, 1941, in Jersey Shore, Pa., the son of John E. and Florence M. (Worthley) Shirey currently of Linden, Pa.

     Jim retired from AMP Inc. after 36 years of service. He was a member of; AMP Nimrods, Perseverance Lodge No. 21 F. & A. M., and was a former Linglestown Volunteer Firefighter. He was also an avid hunter and Nascar fan. He was loved very much and will be missed deeply by his family.

     In addition to his parents, James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane (Fleeger) Shirey; daughters, Tammy (Rob) Redmond, Sheri (Lou) Keller Jr., and Kim Stafford; eight grandchildren; Alexandra, Mariah, and Deon (whom he raised) and Jacquelyn, Alison, Amanda, Paige, and James and one great-grandchild, Taylin. He is also survived by his two brothers, Tom, and John Jr., and two Sisters Susan, and Janet.

     A celebration of his life will be held at noon on Monday, December 12, in the St. Thomas United Church of Christ, 6490 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the "Deon C. Stafford Jr. Benefit Fund," care of any Fulton Bank branch.
