Ernest Youth Killed While Riding Bicycle
Nine-year-old David Lawrence Schloder of Ernest was killed instantly, early yesterday evening, when he rode his bicycle into the path of an oncoming automobile, according to Indiana County Coroner Dr. Edward L. Fleming.
The victim was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Scholder of Ernest.
The youngster met his death about 7 o'clock as he peddled his bike on a side road near the main intersection of Ernest.
Coroner Fleming said death was caused by a broken neck, internal injuries and a compound fracture of the left leg.
Officials listed the automobile operator as Glen C. Donahue, 23, of Home, R.D.2. Donahue told police he did not see the boy and his bike until the accident actually occurred.
State Police from the Indiana substation and Dr. Fleming are conducting an investigation. The results of the investigation will determine whether an inquest will be held.
