     John Carl Scholterer was born on 24 July 1929 at Geneva, Ontario County, New York.1,2 He was the son of Carl John Scholterer and Agnes Norine Kane. John Carl Scholterer married Janet Corbin in 1954.1 John Carl Scholterer died on 13 February 2006 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, Erie County, New York, at age 76 years, 6 months and 20 days.1,2 He was buried on 17 February 2006 in the United German and French Roman Catholic Cemetery, located in Cheektowaga, Erie County, New York.1
     He graduated in 1947 from Bennett High School, located in Geneva, Ontario County, New York.1 He graduated in 1949 from Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, located in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, with a degree in industrial chemistry.1 His obituary was published on 16 February 2006 in the The Buffalo News, printed in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. His obituary stated:

     John C. Scholterer, chemist, executive July 24, 1929 -- Feb. 13, 2006

     John C. Scholterer, a chemist and longtime executive of a Buffalo plating company, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 76.

     Mr. Scholterer worked for 56 years, until his death, for Key Tech Finishing, formerly Keystone Corp. and before that Keystone Chromium, which specializes in commercial and industrial electroplating and metal finishing at its Niagara Street plant.

     Born in Geneva, he attended St. Vincent de Paul School and graduated from Bennett High School in 1947. In 1949, he received a degree in industrial chemistry as a member of the first graduating class of the Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences at Buffalo, which 11 years later was renamed Erie Community College.

     He joined Keystone Chromium as a chemist in 1950. Over the years he held various positions, including assistant secretary and technical representative and -- from the 1970s to the 1990s -- vice president of sales. In 2000, he became a company consultant.

     Mr. Scholterer was a member of the American Electroplaters and American Metal Finishers societies and was chairman of the former group's 1971 convention in Buffalo, which drew 1,200 members from around the world. He was also a member of the American Society for Metals.

     He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church -- now the Montante Cultural Center -- until 1960. He and Janet Corbin were married in 1954. They lived in Eggertsville until 1990, when they moved to Clarence Center.

     Mr. Scholterer was a member of the Army Reserve's 277th Quartermaster Company and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Clarence.

     Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Susan A. of Kenmore and Karen S. Willard of Snyder; and two grandchildren.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Peace Church after prayers in Amigone Funeral Home, Clarence. Burial was in United German & French Cemetery, Cheektowaga.1
According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index John's last known residence was Clarence Center, Erie County, New York.2
