     LaVerne Arden Ludwig was born on 15 August 1902 at Pleasant Valley, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2,8,5 He was the son of Jacob Edward Ludwig and Kathryn Barbara Schon.2 LaVerne Arden Ludwig first married, at age 20, Edna Beatrice Sholder, age 18, daughter of Edward Sholder and Pearl A. Berry, on Thursday, 10 May 1923 at Lutheran Church Parsonage, Quiggleville, Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend M. M. Kitts.1,3,4,6 LaVerne Arden Ludwig married a second time, at age 54, Helen Beatrice Waltz, age 42, daughter of Lloyd Stanley Waltz and Emily Jane Young, on Saturday, 15 June 1957.2 LaVerne Arden Ludwig died on 31 May 1978 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 75 years, 9 months and 16 days.2,8,5 He was buried on 3 June 1978 in the Buchanan Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Gerald G. Heilman.2,8
     As of 1956, LaVerne Arden Ludwig and Edna Beatrice Sholder lived at 2017 Misner Road, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.1 He became a widower at the age of 54 with the death of Edna on 29 August 1956.1

     LaVerne Arden Ludwig was listed in the obituary for the former Edna Beatrice Sholder, on 30 August 1956 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as her husband.1 As of 1977, LaVerne Arden Ludwig and Helen Beatrice Waltz lived at Williamsport, Pennsylvania.2 His obituary was published sometime in June 1978 in the local paper, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     LaVerne A. Ludwig, 75, of 2017 Misner Road, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 1978, in the Williamsport Hospital, where he was admitted Monday as a medical patient.

     Mr. Ludwig was a retired employee of Old Lycoming Twp.

     He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class, and a member of the Booster Bible Class of Buchanan Baptist Church.

     He was also a member of Williamsport Moose Lodge 145.

     Born in Pleasant Valley Aug. 15, 1902, he was the son of Edward and Kathryn Schon Ludwig.

     Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Waltz; three sons, Glenn E., Dale A. and Kenneth L., and two daughters, Mrs. Lewis Barnes and Mrs. Richard Free, all of this city; two stepsons, Stanley Harman and Alvin Harman, both of this city; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Roy Gee, of this city, and Mrs. Richard Miller, of Linden; a brother Miles, of Williamsport RD 2; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Vollman, of Cogan Station, 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

     The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Knight's, 1914 Memorial Avenue, with his pastor, the Rev. Gerald G. Heilman, officiating. Burial will be in Buchanan Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.2
According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index LaVerne's last known residence was Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.5
