Leo Oreon Mahaffey1

     Leo Oreon Mahaffey was born on 24 June 1922 at Idaho.1 He was the son of Edward James Mahaffey and Florence Irene Smith. Leo Oreon Mahaffey married, at age 30, Cora Day on Monday, 15 June 1953 at Oregon. Leo Oreon Mahaffey died on 8 November 2005 at age 83 years, 4 months and 15 days.1
     He appeared on the census of 2 April 1940 in the household of Edward James Mahaffey and Florence Irene Smith at Election District 9, La Barge, Lincoln County, Wyoming. Leo Oreon Mahaffey began military service on 2 July 1940 joining the United States Marine Corps. He was aboard the USS U. S. Grant (AP-29) a transport ship on 4 July 1944. Originally a German ocean liner named Konig Wilhelm II, she was seized by the United States during the First World War and renamed USS Madawaska (ID 3011) in 1917 before being renamed USS U. S. Grant (AP-29) in 1922.. He ended military service on 30 April 1945. Possible wife Alvina Mahaffey; born 18 Nov 1935 in Dawson County, Montana, USA ; 606 N Bernard, Chewelah, WA, 99109 (1996), died 21 July 2010 in Battle Ground, Clark, Washington. According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Leo's last known residence was Vernonia, Columbia County, Oregon.1
