Joseph Preston Bradley1,2,3,4

     Joseph Preston Bradley was born on 21 November 1910 at Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Joseph Patrick Bradley and Verna [—?—].2 Joseph Preston Bradley first married Dilys Davies circa 1931.2,3 Joseph Preston Bradley married a second time Thelma F. Sholder, daughter of Eli Sholder and Clara Wilhelmina Fullerton, circa 1947.4,2,3 Joseph Preston Bradley died on 5 November 2005 at age 94 years, 11 months and 15 days.1 A memorial service for Joseph Preston Bradley was held Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Owego, Tioga County, New York, on 15 November 2005 with Reverend Mary R. Hemmer officiating.2
     He became a widower at the age of 82 with the death of Thelma on 18 September 1993.5,4 His obituary was published on 9 November 2005 in the Press & Sun-Bulletin, printed in Binghamton, Broome County, New York. His obituary stated:

     Joseph Preston Bradley, 94, born in Plymouth, Pa., November 21st, 1910, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord on November 5th, 2005. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Patrick and Verna Bradley; wives, Dilys Davies Bradley and Thelma Sholder Bradley; one brother, Leonard Bradley.

     He is survived by two sisters, Althea Lindau, Bradenton, Fla., Phyliss Jarmen and brother-in-law, Richard Jarmen, St. Lucie, Fla; three children and their spouses, Lynne Bradley Davis and Don Davis, Apalachin, N.Y., Pat Bradley, Valdosta, Ga., Keith and Karla Bradley, Owego, N.Y; six grandchildren and spouses, Lorie Davis Mehre and Rick Mehre, Birnamwood, Wis., Chuck and Leslie Davis, Owego, N.Y., Cathy Davis Fairbanks and Scott Fairbanks, Apalachin, N.Y., Erin Thompson, Charleston, S.C., Joshua Bradley and Irene Bradley, Owego, N.Y; six great-grandchildren, Shannon and Alicia Mehre, Joey and Samantha Davis, Alexis and Nicole Fairbanks; also his beloved niece, Catherine Agati, and other beloved nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Carl and Rose Thompson, Tybee Island, Ga.

     He was a lifelong Mason, a member of the Round Hill Lodge. He was a retired employee of IBM Endicott and Owego, being one of the first hires in the 1930s. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Owego, N.Y., devoting his time and money to the church. He brought up his children to have faith in the Lord and instilled values and morals in them. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He loved meeting old and new friends, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved life, treating it as a gift from God. He often said, "I enjoy waking up every morning and I want to stick around as long as I'm able, to see what's going to happen next in this crazy world!" We will miss him and his smile, good humor, his good advice, and look forward to seeing him again in the Kingdom of Heaven.

     Respects may be made one hour before the service, which will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 117 Main St., Owego, N.Y., on Tuesday, November 15th, at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Mary R. Hemmer of St. Barnabus Episcopal Church, Valdosta, Ga., will be presiding. Joseph was a great believer in education. Davis, which is set up for his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's future education, or to a charity of your choice.2
