     Madeline Elizabeth Hinston was born on 25 July 1903 at Gordon, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.2,3 She was the daughter of George Hinston and Sarah Miller.2 Madeline Elizabeth Hinston married, at age 18, Victor Paul Sholder, age 22, son of Frederick Sholder and Matilda Helen Miller, on Saturday, 1 July 1922 at Saint John's Evangelical United Brethren Church, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.4,1,2 Madeline Elizabeth Hinston died on 15 January 1983 at Riverview Hospital, Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, at age 79 years, 5 months and 21 days.2,4,3 She was buried on 21 January 1983 in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, located in Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Robert S. Cocks.2
     Madeline Elizabeth Hinston appears in a family snapshot circa 1930. Also, seated on the porch are most likely Sarah (Miller) and George Hinston, Madeline's parents. As of 1970, Madeline Elizabeth Hinston and Victor Paul Sholder lived at 330 Grimesville Road, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.1,2,5 The anniversary announcement for Madeline Elizabeth Hinston and Victor Paul Sholder was published sometime in July 1972 in the local paper, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. This announcement stated:

     RECEPTION TO HONOR COUPLE

     Mr. and Mrs. Victor P. Sholder, 330 Grimesville Road, will be honored in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary at an open reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run Road.

     They were married in the parsonage of St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Church, now a United Methodist congregation, by the Rev. J. O. Biggs.

     Mrs. Sholder is the former Madeline E. Hinston. Mr. Sholder is retired from Armour Leather Company.

     They have a son, Donald P., Idaho Falls, Idaho; two grand-daughters; and two great-grand-daughters.6


     The former Madeline Elizabeth Hinston was listed in the obituary of Victor Paul Sholder, on 19 July 1979 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as his wife.1 As of May 1982, Madeline Elizabeth Hinston was living with Donald Paul Sholder and Rita Pearl Etters at 3765 Upland Road, Idaho Falls, Idaho.1,2 Her obituary was published sometime in January 1983 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Mrs. Madeline Sholder, 79, a former resident of this city who lived with her son, Donald P. Sholder, at 3765 Upland, Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Saturday, January 15, 1983, in the emergency room of Riverview Hospital, Idaho Falls.

     Mrs. Sholder and her husband, Victor P., who died in 1979, had lived in the 300 block of Grimesville Road. Mrs. Sholder moved to Idaho last May [1982].

     Born July 25, 1903, at Gordon, Schuylkill County, she was the daughter of George and Sarah Miller Hinston.

     Mrs. Sholder was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.

     Surviving, besides her son, are a brother, Lair Hinston, of this city, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

     The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sanders', 821 Diamond Street, with the Rev. Robert S. Cocks, retired moderator of the Northumberland Presbytery, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.2
