Joan Gertrude Derone1,2

     Joan Gertrude Derone was born on 14 April 1928 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 She was the daughter of William Ernest Derone and Gertrude May Mulfinger.1,2 Joan Gertrude Derone married, at age 23, William Roy Kelchner Jr., age 25, son of William Roy Kelchner and Della May Sholder, on Sunday, 24 June 1951 at First Baptist Church, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Ward Gage.2 Joan Gertrude Derone died on 20 May 2011 at age 83 years, 1 month and 6 days.2
     She appeared on the census of 20 April 1930 in the household of William Ernest Derone and Gertrude May Mulfinger at Williamsport, 3rd Ward, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Joan Gertrude Derone appeared on the census of 26 April 1940 in the household of William Ernest Derone and Gertrude May Mulfinger at Naugatuck, 3rd Ward, New Haven County, Connecticut. As of 2002, Joan Gertrude Derone and William Roy Kelchner Jr. lived at 1204 High Street, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.3 Her obituary was published on 22 May 2011 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Joan Gertrude Kelchner, 83, of Williamsport, died Friday, May 20, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

     Born April 14, 1928, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Mulfinger) Derone.

     Joan was a graduate of Williamsport High School. She and her husband owned Kelchner's Luncheonette on West Fourth St., Williamsport, PA.

     Joan was a member of Church of the Savior, Lutheran in Williamsport for over 50 years.

     Surviving are her husband of 60 years, William Kelchner; children, Gary Kelchner of Williamsport, Judy (Carl) Bass of Houston, Texas, with children, Jillian, Caitie, and Stephanie, Mike Kelchner of Williamsport, and Laurie (Edward "Butch") Ade of Loyalsock Township with children, Haley, and Brieana.

     A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
