     Richard Allen Leidhecker was born on 12 May 1937 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Merrill E. Leidhecker and Sarah Catherine Welshans.1,3 Richard Allen Leidhecker married, at age 45, Gail Ann Ranck, daughter of Charles Albert Ranck and Doris Mae Biichle, on Saturday, 29 May 1982 at Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 Richard Allen Leidhecker died on 14 February 2007 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 69 years, 9 months and 2 days.1,2 He was buried in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 A memorial service for Richard Allen Leidhecker was held Loyalsock Township High School Auditorium, Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, on 17 February 2007 at 3:00 p.m. with Stuart T. Hague giving the eulogy.1
     Richard Allen Leidhecker was a service manager for Phillips between 1980 and 1995 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 His obituary was published on 16 February 2007 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     Richard A. Leidhecker, age 69, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Dick died as courageously as he lived his life. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

     Born in Williamsport, May 12, 1937, the son of Merrill E. Leidhecker, Sr. who survives and the late Sarah C. Welshans Leidhecker, who died in 2004.

     Dick and his wife, the former Gail Ann Ranck were married in the Bethel Presbyterian Church May 29, 1982. He was a lifetime member and elder of that church.

     He was employed by Phillips Supply House and retired as the service manager. He also owned and operated Leidhecker Electronics.

     Throughout his life, Dick was the recipient of numerous awards. The Gibson Rehabilitation Center honored him twice, with the first award given in 1997 and the most recent Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. In 1989, he was awarded both the Lycoming County Disabled Citizen Award and the Multiple Sclerosis Society Central PA Chapter Achievement Award. Dick was selected as the honoree for the Lycoming County Brotherhood USA Award. The Harrisburg Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society presented him with the Norman Cohn Hope Award, and in 1999 he was inducted into the National M.S. Society "Hall of Fame."

     In addition to his father and his wife, Dick is survived by sons Steven A. (Patricia) Leidhecker and Robert D. (Aegina) Leidhecker, both of city; step daughters Gayle (Julian) Sulik of Poughkeepsie, NY and Allison (Ernie, Jr.) Hower of city; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brothers, Merrill (Gladys) Leidhecker, Jr. and Donald (Ann) Leidhecker all of city.

     A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Loyalsock High School Auditorium, 1801 Loyalsock Drive, with Stuart Hague, lay speaker, officiating. Flowers will be provided by the family.

     Dick may be remembered with memorial contributions to the Lycoming County M. S. Self Help Group, c/o Gail Leidhecker, 54 Kinley Rd. or the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2758 Bottle Run Road, both are in Williamsport, PA. 17701. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Sanders Mortuary.1
